Studio Acusticum, Outside the box

American pianist Steven Mayer—one of today’s most versatile and expressive pianists. As our fourth and final guest, we welcome Steven Mayer, an artist who moves with equal ease between classical music and jazz. Regarded by many as a living legend in the piano world, Mayer is known for his extraordinary range, navigating the realms of classical music and jazz with effortless fluidity. The New York Times has described his playing as piano performance in its most magnificent form, and his recordings have garnered acclaim from the international music press. During his visit to Skellefteå, he will treat the audience to an all-American program that reflects his deep roots in the American musical tradition.

Program: Works by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Scott Joplin, James P. Johnson, Fats Waller, Art Tatum, and Charles Ives.
