When vocalist Britta Bergström, the Norrbotten Big Band, and artistic director Joakim Milder join forces amidst the holiday hustle and bustle, the result is a concert experience of the very highest caliber.
In 2026, a unique collaboration will take place featuring Lisa Miskovsky, Toussaint Chiza, and Joanné Nugas. While Soulful December certainly unfolds during the holiday season—offering that special, warm sense of community and anticipation—it also takes the liberty of looking beyond the traditional sounds of jingle bells.
The evening features a curated selection of songs where famous hits and hidden gems meet the big band format in entirely new guises.
Norrbotten Big Band has long cemented its position as one of Europe’s most progressive and dynamic big bands. Combined with the intuitive artistry of Artistic Director Joakim Milder, a rare and beautiful musical encounter with this year’s guest artists unfolds. The music is imbued with a unique, personal artistic touch—timeless and grand, at times minimalist, yet always deeply moving.
This year, Soulful December presents an exceptional trio of artists:
Platinum-selling Lisa Miskovsky is one of the country’s most established and beloved artists and songwriters. With over 200,000 albums sold, two Grammis awards, and five Rockbjörnen awards to her name, she moves effortlessly between soaring pop choruses and intimate expressions. Beyond her own hits, she has penned global successes for others—such as the Backstreet Boys’ Shape of My Heart—and collaborated with giants like Max Martin and Joakim Berg. Recently, she has received great acclaim for the project Eljest, in which she explores—in Swedish—roots, identity, and the courage to embrace being different. For this year’s concerts, Lisa brings both personal favorites and her inimitable stage presence.
Toussaint Chiza (formerly known as Tusse) has fully embraced his path as an independent artist, creating music entirely on his own terms. With the critically acclaimed album It Takes a Village to Love a Child, he delivers a powerful sound rooted in African gospel and contemporary soul from London and the US. It is a moving musical journey about origins, courage, and family—carried by a vocal force of nature that speaks straight to the heart. On stage, Toussaint radiates infectious energy, raw honesty, and irresistible soulful warmth.
The versatile rising star Joanné Nugas possesses a dazzling stage presence and vocal range that captivate every audience. She is known as a key voice in the legendary vocal ensemble The Real Group and as the Swedish voice of Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid. She has also enjoyed tremendous success this year in the lead role of Juliet in the musical & Juliet at Cirkus in Stockholm. With her dazzling vocal technique, precision, and charisma, Joanné brings a touch of pure magic to the evening.
Hosting the festivities is, as always, the indispensable singer Britta Bergström; with a steady hand, humor, and plenty of groove, she guides the audience through a concert filled with musical brilliance, vocal harmonies, and genuine warmth.
