NUANCES by Amanda Mendiant

A visual artist, illustrator, and art director, Amanda works with a visual language partly rooted in the subcultures of the 90s—a time when styles and techniques mingled freely and uninhibitedly in a strong DIY (Do It Yourself) spirit, and where influences from modernism, naivism, and mannerism meet Scandinavian graphic simplicity.

Growing up between two cultures has fostered a multifaceted perspective on identity, belonging, and expression. These experiences shape her artistic practice, which focuses primarily on painting and portraiture.

Amanda prefers to explore themes of identity, gender, and cultural complexity—
often focusing on the subtle interplay between the personal and the political.

THOUGHTS ON
Nuances emerge daily.
In the mind. In the body. And all around us.
We are like paint that hasn’t yet dried,
receptive to every impression and expression.
Not everything shows on the surface. Like a varnish that gleams only from certain angles.
The exhibition *Nuances* is a
collective showcase. A constellation of works
spanning three decades.
It is about putting in the hours.
About questioning. About getting lost—repeatedly—
and finding one’s way back.
*Nuances* represents ideas. Fast, slow.
Planned, unplanned. Polished or
unrefined. New, old, borrowed, blended.

Questions, reflections, explorations, and detours.
Sometimes without answers, yet always moving forward.
*Nuances* is a repository of memories and a process of working through them. Stories, people, details, and symbolism. Series or standalone pieces, thematic or
unstructured—and everything in between...

But the true essence of the exhibition is about:
Not standing still.
Learning by doing.
It is never too late.

The opening is on Saturday, October 3, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The exhibition runs from October 3 to November 30.
