Pite Rönnskär - island in Piteå archipelago

The island belongs to Västerbotten County and is jointly owned by the municipalities of Piteå and Skellefteå. It is located on the outermost edge of the sea towards the Bothnian Bay, just off the village of Kinnbäck, about 50 km north of Skellefteå and approximately 30 km south of Piteå.

Today, Pite-Rönnskär is primarily a summer paradise with an interesting history as a fishing village, pilot station, and lighthouse site. The buildings are clustered close to the harbor. The roughly 30 houses are now used as holiday homes, most of which are owned by descendants of fishermen, boatmen, lighthouse keepers, and pilots.

For those who wish to stay overnight, there is a lovely guest harbor, as well as a hostel with a small shop that is open during the summer season. Here, you can buy ice cream and coffee during your stay. If you don’t have your own boat, you can book a boat tour.

You can also take a water taxi from Kinnbäck’s harbor with Nordisk Sjötaxi.

For those who wish to stay overnight on the island, it is possible to book accommodation in the historic pilot’s house, where the lighthouse keeper and pilots lived during the 20th century. Bookings can be made through the Swedish Tourist Association’s website: STF Pite-Rönnskär Kuststuga - Svenska Turistföreningen
