Who hasn’t sat with a game controller in hand, playing a game, only to find the melody stuck in their head for the rest of the day? With the family concert Gaming Big Band, the Norrbotten Big Band steps right into the children’s own domain, taking on music from the magical world of video games.

As the Norrbotten Big Band performs epic themes—including those from the adventures of the Super Mario brothers—one thing is certain: the children in the audience will recognize the tunes far faster than their parents will. It’s a delightful shift in the balance of power within the concert hall, where the kids are the undisputed experts.

Adapting well-known game soundtracks for a big band is the perfect way to introduce a young audience to the full power of an orchestra, using melodies to which they already have a strong personal connection.

A craft corner, popcorn, and a café will be open from 1:00 PM.
