Welcome to an informative lecture with Lennart Rohdin and Ellen Omma. They will share new insights and perspectives, while shedding light on current issues regarding Sweden’s national minorities, minority languages, and the administrative area for the Sami language.

The speakers are among the country’s foremost experts, possessing extensive experience in minority issues and policy.

Lennart Rohdin has long been active in the field of national minorities and minority languages. His roles have included Head of Minority Affairs at the County Administrative Board of Stockholm, government investigator focusing on national minorities and linguistic rights, and minority expert and activist; he has also been awarded an honorary doctorate.

Ellen Omma is the Head of the Minority Policy Unit at the Sami Parliament and works on issues concerning the rights and influence of national minorities.

This event is part of the 6th-anniversary celebrations marking Piteå Municipality’s declaration as a Human Rights Municipality. It is also part of Sami Language Week, an annual event held across Sápmi (in Sweden, Norway, and Finland) to highlight Sami culture and languages.
